Type A/B personalities?

Postby Doctor Azo » Tue Jan 09, 2018 12:51 pm

Personalities can't be fully covered by any popular or detailed test let alone a binary spectrum - but I'm sure many can settle for being mostly A or B or even split evenly.

Anyway, after coming across a posts not just complaining about AVEN's clique but an ace "friend" they met IRL who "turned out to be extremely rude and sporting a type A personality you could only dream of". So I had to look it up and found elaborations like this to get an idea. If those mostly of "Type A" are more outgoing and proactive then you're bound to meet up with them more, or interact and discover you have something in common. However I think that only gives a misleading impression that aces, particularly from AVEN, are mostly type A's although I wouldn't be surprised if in fact most regulars there are.

I want to see where all you think you fit most and conclude my hypothesis that AGN feels more at home to Type B's.

Here's the jist of A: Outgoing, ambitious, rigidly organised, highly status-conscious, sensitive, impatient, anxious, proactive, and concerned with time management. People with Type A personalities are often high-achieving "workaholics". They push themselves with deadlines, and hate both delays and ambivalence. Covert free-floating hostility, more notably short-fused and competitive.

And B: Typically works steadily, a tendency to disregard physical or mental stress when they do not achieve, focus less on winning or losing than their Type A counterparts and more on enjoying the game regardless of winning or losing. More attracted to careers of creativity: writer, counsellor, therapist, actor or actress. However, network and computer systems managers, professors, and judges are more likely to be Type B individuals as well. Their personal character may enjoy exploring ideas and concepts. They are often reflective, and think of the "outer and inner world". More of a dreamer than achiever, bottles up frustration and anger until they break and more likely to procrastinate and defer or neglect social needs.

I'm mostly B.

I said I'm about both equally. I'm the "workaholic" type with anxiety and very much a schedule person (I'm a perfectionist, also have OCD)...but I'm definitely in the career or personality type in B, being a graphic designer/artist and being very much a counselor/therapist sort. Also from B, I'm reflective and the type that bottles things up lol. So yeah...I'd say I'm both.

I think B's are supposed to get anxious too, just more "bottle it up" whereas A's are more do-something-about-it-fast-even-if-it's-just-making-drama. I get extra stressed however when a critical problem arises (which needs immediate focus and fast) and disturbs "the flow", otherwise I defer things based on priorities unless I'm depressed then I struggle to find the motivation to do anything.
